Taught Grade 12 English to a wide range of abilities, from non-English speakers to advanced students, both Emirati and expatriate Arab males. Responsibilities included delivering differentiated instructed in a diverse environment, with several curriculum changes midstream. Coordinated lesson planning efforts with multiple teachers, both same-grade and cross-grade. Worked with staff from a wide variety of locales, including New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia, among others. Liason between Western Staff and Arabic colleagues. Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the UAE, and Al Sila’a is a small town close to the border of Saudi Arabia.

Taught Grade 12 and AP Literature; developed AP English Literature program. Trained in AP English Literature. Key in adapting former curriculum for Grade 12 Language Arts to California curriculum. Served on school wide improvement committee and frequently served as unofficial liaison between host-country and foreign hires for cultural and language issues. Significant involvement in humanitarian work in rural indigenous areas of Guatemala.
Hubbard Middle School, August 2007 - June 2009
Subjects taught include International Baccalaureate MYP Spanish, with extensive use of interdisciplinary units, technology and collaboration with colleagues. Attended MYP Level 1 and 2 training for Language B Spanish and AP Spanish Language training. Attended workshops on web and geographic software, as well as continuing master’s-level coursework. Led multi-school student group on study abroad trip to southern Spain and Morocco.

Subjects taught include Spanish writing and reading, Spanish and English math, and Spanish and English science and social studies, all with emphasis on higher-level and critical thinking skills.
